San Diego Mediator

Doug knows San Diego. He’s lived here for over 49 years. Doug moved to San Diego from Lima, Ohio in 1968 at the age of 14. He attended Will C. Crawford High School near 54th Street and after spending two years at UCSB (mostly playing collegiate soccer), Doug returned to San Diego and entered SDSU. While in college, Doug worked at Sea World as part of the Shamu show where he was an assistant boat driver pulling a hang glider and pilot to the height of 1000 feet. After a stint in Sea World’s accounting office, Doug decided it was best to return to college full time and get his degree.

After college, Doug moved to San Pedro to take a job as a pharmaceutical sales representative and was the top salesperson in the company after his first quarter. Getting a better sense of where he wanted to devote his life, Doug applied to law school and while waiting for admission took a job at Torrance Memorial Hospital working in the pharmacy. Doug again returned to San Diego in 1979 to start law school at California Western School of Law and has lived in San Diego ever since.

While Doug is proud of his “Ohio roots”, he considers himself a San Diego kid and enjoys meeting people to this day who knew his family back in the day. Because of this diverse background and his local knowledge about San Diego, Doug is a more effective mediator and valuable asset to the mediation participants.
